Living in the Northeast is brutal on my skin. Even the oiliest of faces (like mine) can become dry and dehydrated. Here are my top ten ways to keep your skin looking refreshed and rejuvenated all winter long. There are links to all of the products mentioned.

1. Wash in lukewarm water

2. Switch up your skincare regimen
I tend to rotate the products in my skincare routine each season. During the colder months my skin really likes the Derma E Purifying Gel Cleanser with marine algae and activated charcoal. Activated charcoal can absorb 100 to 200 times its weight in impurities, helps thoroughly remove toxins from the skin’s surface. Green Tea delivers potent antioxidant defense, and a base of Aloe Leaf Juice revives skin with fresh, healthy hydration.

3. Moisturize like crazy!
It's important to add as much moisture to your skin as possible. My current three daytime moisturizers are the Derma E Purifying Oil-Free Moisturizer, Avon Moisture Boost and the Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream.

4. Exfoliate
Exfoliating your tired, dead skin cells speeds up the skin renewal process and allows new healthy cells to take their place. This will help your skin to look refreshed and renewed. For a gentle daily scrub I like to use the Derma E Daily Detox Scrub. Once a week, I like to use something a little more powerful, so I reach for the Derma E Microdermabrasion Scrub. I like to mix it with a little bit a facial cleanser and it leaves my skin super soft.

5. Hydrate from the inside out
Fruit infused water is a great way to give your body an extra vitamin boost while also hydrating your skin. I'd recommend lemon, lime, cucumber and water. It can help kill cholera bacilli and help fight infections as well as cleanse the kidneys. By reducing bloating and inflammation, this recipe will give your skin a healthy dose of vitamins.

6. Moisturize overnight
Overnight moisturizers offer the highest amount of hydration and they work while we sleep and our cells repair themselves and our body detoxes. The Derma E Hydrating Night Creme is a good choice to use on a daily basis. Two or three times a week I like to use the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask.

7. Humidify
With the heat on full blast the air tends to be dry. Pick up an affordable humidifier for your bedroom, to add moisture back into the air and help prevent your skin from drying out.

8. Pamper yourself
Treat your skin to a mask once a week. Two of my winter faves are the Leaders Cosmetics Kalahari Melon Moisturizing Mask and the Freeman Strawberries and Chocolate Clay Mask.

9. Bundle up
Keep your skin protected from the elements.

 10. Get some rest
Beauty sleep is actually a real thing! A good night's rest can do wonders for your face. Sweet dreams!
